China: A sublime Harbin Snow Festival has a celebration and joy during the winter
China: The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is one of the largest winter festivals that take place every year in Heilongjiang, China. However, it became an international festival in 2018 by attracting almost 18 million people across the world. The festival includes the world’s largest ice sculptures. While the festival starts on January 5th and ends in late February.
However, the festival celebrated throughout the city. On the other side, there are two main areas like Sun Island and Ice Snow World, where everyone can enjoy. Besides, some changes can take place to allow China’s popular winter festival due to COVID-19 in nearby cities.
Songhua River:Â
The 37th annual Snow and Ice Festival will take place in the northeastern Chinese city of Harbin Heilongjiang, China. Initially, the festival takes place in 1963, due to the Cultural Revolution in China, the festival was stopped for a few years. In the festival, almost 2,20,000 cubic meters of ice and snow are placed from the Songhua River. However, this ice art will take place every year in winter.
The uncertain situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic across the cities of Shenyang and Dalian, due to this, the New Year’s celebrations being cancelled. During the festival, some of the main activities like sledding, ice football, speed skating, ice hockey, and alpine skiing competitions. On the other side, some of the main events canceled this year due to the Covid-19.
The first main highlight of the festival is a snow-themed group wedding ceremony. In this almost 40 couples were required, but unfortunately, it was unable to go ahead this year due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Whereas the total area of the festival covers almost 7,50,000 sq meters. Besides, the creations during this year also include a towering frozen ice palace, a crystal palace, an ice bar, and a scale model of China’s first aircraft carrier. The ice sculptures maintain their shape due to the low temperatures during winter in Harbin.
While the travelers who are visiting there, need to buy their own ticket to check out the sculptures of ice. Everyone needs to follow health codes like wearing masks, temperature check-ups, and social distancing while visiting. However, the ice and snow festival will run up to February 25th, 2021.
